Step 1

Initial Consultation

We start by getting a big picture understanding of your project, while also getting to know you and see how we can best serve you.
We also discuss your budget in relation to your vision, consider possible options, and go over schedule and expectations. We will always be honest, telling you the good, and not so good. Our aim is to build a strong foundation of trust and clarity to ensure a successful partnership for your renovation project.
Step 2

Plan the Project

From dream and design to scope and schedule, we explore every possibility while examining all the details, so there are no surprises.
The planning process will be handled with a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) that usually includes a fee, and it will result in a detailed scope of work that ensures a quality, completed project at a specific price. It will cover design services and discovery work, and you get to own all the designs and plans from the PSA, even if you choose not to hire us. Then we will talk through the project with you, which often includes gathering trade partners, selecting materials, and discussing possible and likely outcomes — so you can be completely confident in our services.
Step 3

Get to Work

We minimize disruptions in your home with meticulous planning, quality control and maximum efficiency as we get to work.
During the construction phase we will handle all the details of ordering materials, scheduling, oversight, and coordination. We will also keep you up to date on our progress and any issues that come up. And no matter how carefully we plan your project together, we are prepared to accommodate any changes you might want to make. Our agreement will explain how costs associated with your changes will be handled.
Step 4

Finish Strong

As your experience with us is wrapping up, your experience with your new space is about to begin. It’s important that we finish strong.
We meticulously inspect the project on multiple occasions to ensure that our high level of craftsmanship has been maintained all throughout. We will do a final walkthrough with you to answer any operational questions regarding appliances and fixtures, and any other relevant questions. We will do a final cleanup to the highest standards possible, both within the project and anything on the property that we touched. You will also benefit from a 1-year warranty and follow-up program on our work.

Warranty & Followup

We provide a 1-year warranty on workmanship and 1-year warranty on products. We will reach out to you after 3 months to check in and address any issues that may surface. After 11 months, we will reach out again for a complete inspection before the warranty is over so we can address anything additional. Additionally, we will give you a document to write down issues as you see them instead of trying to remember it all when we return.

Our Story

Since 2020 was such an unpredictable year, we somehow thought it made sense to start a side business. While people were staying home more, the demand for home improvement services went through the roof. So drawing from previous experience, we got to work, painting an entire 4,500 square foot house that summer. One thing led to another, and soon we were working throughout the Lowcountry all year long.

Five years later, we became DK Contracting, which opened the door for many great opportunities, larger projects, and being able to spend more time serving our customers. As a contracting company, we specialize in home transformation, including kitchens, bathrooms and home remodeling. Most importantly, we love spending time with you to make sure you understand every aspect of your project, getting to know you so we can offer the best outcome for your lifestyle, and creating a better place that you will enjoy for a lifetime.

We like to think this business has been in the works for much longer. Both of us grew up working summer jobs, crafting our skills, and learning from the best. We were already handy before our professional teaching careers began. It’s that career that brought us together and led us to an opportunity that helped us see the potential for what we’re seeing today.
